Personnel of the Hong Kong Department of Environment and Food Safety visited Mexico with the objective of continuing the negotiations to open the Hong King market to the exportation of poultry, pork and beef, as well as sheep and horse meat.
During the visit, the five officials from the Hong Kong government examined the security measures and controls in the production of the Mexican meats. The inspectors visited the National Center for the Verification of Animal Health (CENAPA), in Jiutepec, Morelos, and the Level III Bio-security Laboratory of the Mexico-US Commission on the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease and Other Exotic Animal Diseases (CPA) as well as federal Inspection farms and slaughterhouses in the states of Coahuila, Sonora, Michoacán, Querétaro and Hidalgo, in order to become familiar with their system and approve it.
The Hong Kong government officials will submit a report of the visit in order to advance the negotiations and open this important market.
