The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the National Ministry of Economy reports that during the first four months of the Interim Trade Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (i.e., from May 1 to August 31), agro-industrial exports to the European Union saw a 21% increase in total export value—reaching USD 1,922 million—compared to the average for the same period over the last three years.

Products benefiting from tariff reductions resulting from the entry into force of the aforementioned agreement saw a 44% increase in sales, representing an additional USD 372 million compared to the average of the last three years.

Data processed by the Undersecretariat for Agri-food Markets and International Integration—based on INDEC statistics—indicates that the value of exports to the European Union during the first four months following the agreement's entry into force showed an increase compared to the three-year average for the beef sector (+50%). Other sectors that, while representing a smaller share of total exports, also showed significant increases include sheep products (+154%), animal feed (+75%), and food ingredients (+116%).

It is worth noting that the European Union was the second-largest destination for agro-industrial exports in 2025—ranking behind China—contributing over US$6 billion to the trade balance. Furthermore, over the past three years, the EU has been the primary export destination for sectors such as soy, fisheries, peanuts, citrus, food ingredients, legumes, tobacco, rice, sheep, and horses, among others, and the second most important destination for supply chains including beef, sunflower, and beekeeping.
