Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that in the second quarter, pork production rose 5.6% to 412,280 metric tons, but average farmgate prices plunged nearly 19% to P172.44 per kg from P211.91 a year earlier.

Meanwhile, import volume for the whole year is projected by the Bureau of Animal Industry to decline by around 50,000 metric tons (-5.9%) from the 851,760 metric tons in 2025 due to a combination of higher local production and higher import volume last year by food processors.
